Question 1: Plagiarism and Referencing

I believe plagiarism by definition is to duplicate ones words and use them as your own, exclusive of appropriate acknowledgement of that individuals efforts.

Strategies which we can adapt to avoid plagiarism is to suitably use an acknowledgement reference technique. Techniques general excepted throughout university, are the Harvard author-date system or the Chicago Manual of Style method. Other than using an apposite indication technique is to value and comprehend the true connotation of plagiarism then you will appreciate the precedent set by the laws.
Plagiarism is very important in an academic setting as it shows acknowledgment and professionalism in students and their predecessors; it has been in forced into university and in professions to illustrate regard, of ideas by others.
Plagiarism can be easily avoided by recognising quotes in a manner of acceptable acknowledgement to authors, as I understand plagiarism is taken very serious at university level and if students use direct quotes without proper acknowledgement it may result in disciplinary action. There is plenty of information throughout our study guide and numerous websites explaining the meaning of plagiarism and techniques demonstrating how to avoid the consequences associated with the laws of plagiarism, so in theory avoiding replication shouldn’t be a problem, but it is very important to adopt and make it general practice in all your studies to shun copying others work, with lacking acceptable appreciation.
