Who owns our Body?
    According to the Encyclopedia “ drug addiction” is defined as “the progression of acute drug use to the development of drug-seeking behavior, the vulnerability to relapse, and the decreased, slowed ability to respond to naturally rewarding stimuli. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) has categorized three stages of addiction: preoccupation/anticipation, binge/intoxication, and withdrawal/ that must have a negative affect on himself or society”. In laymen’s terms addiction is seen bad when harm is done to your self or others. For many decades the government has tried to put an end to drug addiction across the world. Although people have all sorts of addictions; someone can be addicted to reading the paper every morning, or watching his favorite football team every Sunday. Since it is one’s moral judgments to decide whether someone’s actions are detrimental to him or herself or society, it comes down to a code of ethics. Thomas Szasz explains,  “ by not specifying what is detrimental it consigns the problem of addiction to psychiatrists who define the patient’s dangerousness to himself and others”. There are many addictions that aren’t related to drugs which can be “ detrimental” to ones self. For example, I’m a die heart San Diego, Charger fan. By the encyclopedia’s definition of an addict, I could honestly say I’m addicted to watching the chargers. I’m constantly thinking of them, I receive a high when watching, and I will go to “any means” necessary to make sure I never miss a game. This seems like a perfectly harmless addiction, although last Sunday, the game wasn’t going to be televised on regular cable. Without, thinking I jumped in my car and drove twenty minutes down town ...
