Affirmative Action
The United States was founded on the principles of individual merit, hard work, and
equality. The Constitution grants to all citizens the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit
of happiness. That is what attracts so many people to this country and has been doing so for many years. This is the land of opportunity and many people want to live the American dream. We live in a country that is made up of many cultures and is a culturally diversified melting pot.
In an effort to keep improving this amazing organization and in the spirit of keeping a positive workplace environment. I bring forth to you, the board of directors, the idea that we implement and enforce an affirmative action policy to ensure equal opportunity for all employees, immediately. Affirmative Action is a policy that goes beyond equal employment opportunity by requiring organizations to comply with the law and correct past discriminatory practices by increasing the numbers of minorities and women in specific positions. Such a policy should also consist of specific standards to prevent discrimination against any employee based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or veteran status. This affirmative action policy should also comply with all equal opportunity laws and regulations.
While Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) law is largely a policy of nondiscrimination, affirmative action requires employers to analyze their workforce and develop a plan of action to correct areas of past discrimination. This can be achieved by making sure that this organization has a balanced and representative workforce. This company needs to recruit, select, train, and promote members of protected classes.
