Theatre in Education
Theatre is on earth since earlier times. It has done a lot for the masses. Nothing can exist for such a long time without any substance. It has a role in informing, educating, entertaining, etc. today, its growing with films, media, animation, internet, etc.
Theatre can present most of the matter in realistic form, it can show its viewers anything from many angles, emphasize anything and can cast an everlasting impact on their minds.
Need for education was felt time unknown. Educating someone means transferring of knowledge, data, information, culture, etc from one generation to another. It is such a thing without which we can’t imagine culture or modern society to exist and grow atleast its true up till today.
Education makes a human being a social being. It help them use their brain to the fullest .
Education in educational institutions or society can be given via role playing, theatre way and many other methods. When we use theatre method in educating it helps get full attention of the viewer. It generates curiosity in their minds . it raises their emotions , they become good listeners, it help them feel the substance of the content and in turn we get better educated and understanding people.
Theatre depends on the performance of the acters, if they perform well it helps otherwise it become a dump show. Although it has cost in preparation but the results show that it worths.
Theatre can be used in all subjects but it has a greater role in social sciences.
As in history its more a kind of story telling for which you need characters. Even other subjects could be taught via singing and dancing e.g. you can teach maths tables , you can teach English alphabets and hindi alphabets, ...
