Many organizations have found themselves operating business globally. Operating a business globally, a company is faced with forces that they have to manage additionally. Those forces that they are against are called the global environment. “The global environment is a set of forces and conditions in the world outside an organization’s boundary that affect the way it operates and shape its behavior” (Jones & George, 2008).
Within the global environment an organization must deal with task environment. Task environment can be defined as “the set of forces and conditions that originate with global suppliers, distributors, customers, and competitors; these forces and conditions affect an organizations ability to obtain inputs and dispose of its outputs” (Jones & George, 2008). These forces have an effect on how a manager operates his or her business on a daily basis. This portion of the paper will list the strength and numbers of forces that affect Wal-Mart as a company, the paper will also discuss any opportunities and threats that come from suppliers, customers and the competition. ...
