When looking at the Cumberland Housing Authority at first glance it seems to be a very well composed organization with many different key players. Upon further inspection of the organization I saw that this organization is small with different departments that all answer to one person but the organization is governed by the (HUD) Housing Urban Development committee. The Cumberland Housing Authority has no real departmentalization but yet it has created in a sense several informal groups within the office. “Informal groups are ones created by employees themselves, not sanctioned by the organization. These groups can be created around a work place issue (interest groups) or an activity outside the work place (friendship groups)” (Kotelnikov 2008). Some of these informal groups are the maintenance department, finance, occupancy, and youth activities.
The focus of this paper will be on the youth center activities and how they operates and relates to physical assets and human resources with the organizing function of management. While focusing on this informal group there will be a discussion on whether or not the Cumberland Housing Authority has optimized these two resources properly for effectiveness and efficiency.
HUMAN RESOURCES
The human resource portion of the Cumberland Housing Authority is organized in a consistent manner to ensure all needs are met.
