In the functions of management the first phase is planning. This is the phase that creates the standard for the staff to follow. In this phase the team's objectives and purpose is stated. A manager can take the time to explain to the staff the desired outcome and benefits of reaching their goal. This not only creates clarity, but brings the boosting of morale for the team to complete its task. Boeing is a company that is a perfect example showing the functions of management.
Boeing is a large corporation that utilizes the four functions of management. The first function, planning, is used to set up a strategy to market their products and vision. They use careful planning and decision making to help grow the company even larger than they already are. A lot of their marketing is looked at under a telescope so Boeing must plan wisely.
One ethical issue that impacts Boeing is the fact of its size and amount of employees. This corporation employs more than 155,000 people in over 67 countries. It is also one of the largest manufacturing companies in the world. (www.boeing.com) Since it is so large Boeing is constantly evaluating itself to make sure they are doing the right thing. Integrity is of large importance to Boeing.
