Build-a-Bear Workshop is not like any ordinary store. Typically when you go in a store you find what you are looking for, pay for it, and then walk out. Not this store! Build-a-Bear is setup so you have many different options. It has seven different stations which must be followed in order. The stations are: Choose Me, Hear Me, Stuff Me, Fluff Me, Dress Me, Name Me, and Take Me Home.
At the Choose Me station the customer picks out an animal he or she wants to take home, or “bring to life” as some might say. They have cartoon characters to select from such as Cat-in-the-Hat, Winnie the Pooh, Shrek and Big Bird. Some of the other animals to pick are husky, puppies, kitties, turtle, bunny, monkey, hippo, curly teddy, pink or blue cuddles teddy, kuddly koala, and lil’ milk chocolate or vanilla cubs.
Next, the customer can opt to add a sound to the animal in the Hear Me station. They are not obligated to have a sound, although many kids do want one. The sound options range from happy birthday song to Surfs Up noise (sounds from the movie) to Shrek four-in-one (again sounds from the movie). There are general sounds also for example roar, dog (bark), I love you, giggle, take me out to the ball game, cat (meow), and a magic sound.
The third station is called Stuff Me. This, of course, is where stuffing is added to the animal. If sound is added to the animal, it is usually places in one of the arms before stuffing is added. The employee makes sure the right amount of stuffing goes in the right places (such as the arms, legs, ect.) but the customer steps on the petal on the floor which operators the machine.
