Mr. Bigg’s is the largest retail food business with over 175 restaurants in about 48 cities in Nigeria and Ghana. The core values of the organisation are enmeshed in offering convenient, quality snacks, meals, ice cream and drinks served promptly, by friendly, courteous and enthusiastic personnel in a clean, hygienic and refreshing environment (Mr. Biggs, 2007). Nevertheless, the recent business climate has necessitated that the business process be examined and evaluated in order to reposition the operation to grow into taking up the emerging market opportunity. In doing this, the creative problem solving technique was employed; starting with the strategic plan approach, the SWOT analysis of the existing business process was carried out to determine the exact problem statement. Afterward, the 5WH (who, what, where, when, why, how) technique was employed in redefining the problem statement and from this, thirty (30) different ideas were generated based on the morphological analysis matrix technique. The broad screening system was used in evaluating the ideas and upon completion, the list was reduced to five (5). With the focus screening conducted, one idea was selected and accepted as the appropriate solution to the earlier defined challenge.
For the implementation, the action plan was defined and the likely barriers were identified with the appropriate step towards resolving the problems identified. The project plan is outlined and the Gantt chat is deployed in indicating the tasks and duration.
