SWOT Analysis
Strengths:

• Caron has resources and capabilities that can be defined as the companies strengths. There are three strengths that have been identified which helps to make them better than their competitors.
? Produces 67% of inputs, such as veneer, lumber milling, and wood bending which are all produced internally. These are tangible resources which can be quantified as core competencies. This production of raw materials within Caron provides them with a guaranteed supply and lower costs. Currently there is no other company in Canada that has been able to replicate this process.
? Provides value to their products by offering customers variety. They produce a wide variety of products. Their product line is diverse; they have over 60 series of chairs, eight types of tables, conference tables, five series of desks and office systems. In addition to the 2,100 types of upholstery options a customer can bring in their own upholstery designs. They have two types of wood and eight different finishes to choose from. With this wide selection of products customers can create their own style.
? Caron’s ‘no-layoff policy’ is an amazing strength. When demand is low, instead of laying employees off, they are utilized in other areas of the plant; employees are cross trained in other areas during the down time. The company’s reputation of the work environment helps to attract and maintain their workforce. Caron has training programs designed not only for training unskilled workers, but also for improving skilled workers knowledge.
