Introduction
CrysTel is a $200 million telecommunications company, operating in the state of Illinois. With rapid advances in the telecom industry, CrysTel is facing technological and administrative changes and the company’s top management wants to promote innovation and sustain change. CrysTel has opportunity to change organization culture, leadership style to boost employee motivation and create teamwork environment to thrive in competitive market. To achieve successful change, CrysTel needs change in leadership style who can act as change agent. First section of this paper will describe the change initiatives required at CrysTel and the implications of the change. An appropriate change model will be proposed in second section. Based on the change model, leadership style and change management strategy which will be suitable for CrysTel will be discussed in third section. Then measures to monitor the progress at CrysTel will be recommended. Finally, future leadership challenges at CrysTel and the concluding summary will be presented.
Change Initiatives and Implications of Change at CrysTel
Implementing a successful change management plan always requires an in-depth analysis of the implications of the planned change on the individuals of the organization. “For individuals to grow, develop and change they must engage in a continuous and never-ending process of stringent self-examination” (Peck, 2003).
