Communication In Business

Communication in any aspect of life is extremely important. Communication is something that takes place across every species because it is a way to convey information and is a key component to aiding in survival. We as people communicate in a number of different ways, especially in today’s society with the technology that we have. Through the invent of the internet we have developed even more ways to communicate. As humans we communicate by speaking, reading, writing, signs, body language, gestures, etc. Communication can be broken down into two basic categories: Verbal and Non Verbal communication.
Verbal communication can be considered anything having to do with actual words; whether it is written or spoken. Non verbal communication is all the little things in between the words. Non verbal communication includes sounds, body language, gestures, tone of voice, facial expression, angle of body, distance between speakers, etc. Non verbal communication has been studied extensively and researchers have come to determine that 80% of any message is conveyed through non verbal communication. So a lot of the meaning in a message comes from your actions. Verbal communication is considered to be the channel that our formal information is exchanged through; while non verbal communication is the channel that we convey our informal information through.
