Career Management Plan

It is has become essential for survival and succeeding in the competitive international job environment to develop and adhere to a proper career management plan. The way companies hire have changed significantly from hiring practices two or three decades ago. For example, the resume has changed from a ten page chronological summary of your job history and education to a concise one to three pages marketing tool that highlights your accomplishments. This is just one example of how the process of hiring and job hunting has changed and necessitates a career management plan. Women for instance are no longer housewives , if they do stay at home; they are full time employed home executives in their own right. Understanding the current job market is a topic on its own. Knowing how to construct a career management plan is however, still vital if you are to succeed in the modern business environment.

Feedback can be given in two ways: through constructive feedback or through praise and criticism. “Constructive feedback is information specific, issue focused, and based on observations.” “Praise and criticism are both personal judgments about a performance effort or outcome, with praise being a favorable judgment and criticism, an unfavorable judgment” (Boud 1997).

As far as helping an employee reach a higher level would be to recognize his/her weaknesses and do some problem solving for them to become stronger. There will be promotions available. Employees should not only aim for being great at what they currently do, but also demonstrate the ability to be great at the job to which they want to be promoted. Since some positions require additional education, the company does offer tuition reimbursement.
