Be the manager, Creating an ethical code
1. Act in Good Faith. A business should care to perform work competently and responsibly. Honoring its promises, avoiding dishonesty, acting fairly, and living up to the expectations of other people are all ways how businesses should act in good faith. Basically, treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. These principles apply to servicing, hiring, firing, buying, investing, competing, and selling.
2. Take pride and value in their work. Responsible and productive work provides help to our economic system and to our each person’s life. To be productive, work needs to be efficient at four levels: the worker, the customer, the employer and its owners, and society as a whole. Achieving this goal is a primary responsibility of business.
3. Treat Workers with self-respect. Workers should be treated as more than just people that are producing something. Discrimination based upon race, sex, or religion should be avoided. Employers need to respect the dignity and well-being of their workers and other stakeholders. This will make the stakeholders feel that they are appreciated and that they are not looked at as just some worker.
4. Have a healthy and safe Work Environment. Precautionary measures need to be taken to avoid possible injuries or sickness. If and when workers suffer work-related injuries, the business need to make sure that health benefits are available which will avoid possible law suits and end up saving you money in the long run. The business should take all steps possible to reduce injury or sickness in the workplace. This will make all stakeholders feel safer and trust the business more.
