Critical thinking is a mental process that involves engagement of the brain in processes of discerning, analysis, and evaluation in order to form a solid judgment that acts as a go between the scientific evidence and common sense. In business management for example critical thinking that gathers information from all the senses such as written, verbal, observation, experience and reasoning is necessary because it will be the basis for coming up with an intellectual working criteria that will ensure accuracy, credibility, precision and fairness. For the business to thrive well critical thinking need to put into consideration applicable theoretical constructs in order to understand the nature of the problem at hand. (Kenneth, 1991, p.54)
In Battlefield steel company it was found that most of the workers tend to avoid their responsibilities and very few workers enjoyed what they did in that company. Policies were enforced by the rule of the thumb and workers were forced to work up to late hours against their will. There was no proper division of labor and even people were forced to participate in activities that they had no aptitude for or they were not skilled. Ancient forms of management were put in use and modern technology was not applied in the work place. The company’s productivity went down and the profits realized were so low to an extend that they can’t cater for the expansion of the company; this led to lying off of many workers. These deteriorating conditions attracted the attention of the management who embarked in the process of looking for a solution to end this problem.
