Critical Thinking Final Paper

Abstract
For many years there have been a small group of Mac users who continue to claim that the hardware and software platforms they have been using is superior to the PC Intel based platforms.
America was not buying into that claim and 90% of computers used are Intel based. (Lai, E. (2007) Vista, Mac Use Both Increase. Retrieved January 9, 2008, from PCWorld Web site http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,140422-page,1/article.html).

Since the processors are now the same, the argument is: Macs are better than PCs as they can run their own operating system OS X as well as Microsoft’s operating systems XP & Vista therefore everyone should buy Macs.

The Apple computers delivered Character User Interface (CUI) but began to introduce innovations from the Apple II+ (1979). The Apple II+ was the first personal computer with a portion of its operating system loaded into its Read only Memory (ROM) speeding the startup process. In 1984 the Macintosh was introduced. It was the first all-in-one computer and the first to offer a built-in 3.5” floppy drive and offered a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Apple continued to enhance its line of hardware and software solutions by releasing new computers with innovation after innovation. Their computers were fast, they offered smart hardware, they did not crash and they developed a reputation for being very easy to use regardless of your computer expertise. They were the choice for the public school system in the United States.
