Designing Firm Term Paper

BBGF Recruiting Company
The word consultants can conjure different reactions. Some people feel consultants are a waste of company resources that do not bring any new and worthwhile tools or techniques to an organization. Others take a viewpoint that consultants can fully understand an organization's unique needs and challenges and are better equipped at implementing a solution. In 2004, U.S. firms spent more than $120 billion on consulting services and through 2012, the Bureau of Labor Statistics expects consulting to be one of the fastest growing industries ("Choosing a Consulting," 2006, para. 2). Ultimately, hiring a consulting firm is a sound business decision. Those firms spending more than $120 billion are spending money but yet saving money and positioning themselves for the future. For example, consultants can help organizations eliminate overproduction, processing waste, or even help companies with time-management strategies ("Choosing a Consulting," 2006, para. 6). Organizations cannot expect to hire any consulting firm and realize savings. At issue is selecting the right consulting firm for the task. The skills and talents of the consulting firm should complement the consulting services offered; otherwise, the people who feel consultants are a waste of company resources may have a valid point.
