One of the most decisive causes of Vietnam’s logistics companies losing grip is that they have not cooperated with each other, and there hasn’t been an association gathers these companies and direct them to walk the same road with cooperation. That’s how power is formed for them. These are short-term methods to help these companies link with each other:
- Maximize the role of Vietnam Freight Forwarders Association, help its members recognize disadvantages when they stand alone in a big battle field. First: they will lose the high ground at home field because after being a member of WTO, Vietnam government cannot subsidy for them any longer; foreign companies will have opportunities to compete with domestic companies. Second: when companies compete each other by lowering transport freight or warehouse freight, foreign exporters and carriers take the advantages. Third: Safety and reliability are criteria to choose a provider, domestic companies will hardly have the chance to partner with big exporters or to have big fat contracts unless they cooperate to better their status. Forth: Vietnam enterprises often have limited capital that explains why they are not well equipped. But if they side with each other, they can exploit other member’s strength, this way it will be more economical as well as more efficient. It is crucial for companies to cooperate to form big logistics companies which can compete with foreign ones in term of size, and smaller companies will be able to join the game as supporting companies in Vietnam nowaday....
