3.1. Effective Communication
1. To communicate with my supervisor and other subordinates  daily. Changes in project structure and program and use of resources are discussed.
2. Project Meetings.
Administrative issues, Program issues discussed any variations to program and control issues, Incident and accidents and Financial issues.
3. Sending requisitions, Correspondence, Project communications, Time cards
via email.

 
3.2 Ways to Increase Effectiveness

1.    Communication  to be on the lower scale of on the continuum.  There are more positives to be gained from allowing subordinates to be more involved in the decision making process.  Job enrichment is a good motivating factor.Mintzberg from a study of manager’s activities suggested that 78% manager’s activities comprised of verbal communication.  Language can convey 20% of the meaning of a conversation and Body language conveys the rest.  

2.    In project meetings, the tables are turned and are in essence the subordinates.  We prefer to be higher up on the scale to permit us, as competent contractors to make decisions within limits.  Understanding (Preston& Loan-Clark, 2000) your audience is the key to how and what you communicate.  It is important to think of assumptions and perceptions that lead to misunderstanding.  Awareness of the client expectations as well as his legal obligations are  necessary.

3.    Sending electronic communication allows us freedom to dictate our requirements to a line manager for him to approve.  This allows us to make faster and  more decentralised decisions. We need to take note that Non verbal communication comes through ...
