Electronic Filing Instructions

These instructions are provided to help you understand and complete the final steps for successfully filing your Pennsylvania return electronically. We highly recommend that you print these instructions for your reference.
After submitting your return and receiving an "E-File Successful" screen, you should receive two confirmation emails from TaxACT (a valid email address must have been entered in the Electronic Filing Steps when submitting).
Email #1 - Notification Tax Return Received:
This email should be sent to you within 24 hours of uploading your return stating that 2nd Story Software, makers of TaxACT, received your return.
Email #2 - State Acknowledgment:
This email should be sent to you approximately 5 days after uploading your return stating whether the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue accepted or rejected your return. If the return is rejected, errors must be corrected and the return will need to be resubmitted using Step 6 - Electronic Filing.

Website - Open your internet browser to www.TaxACT.com and select the Check E-File Status link.

As a Self Select PIN participant, you do not need to complete or mail any paper signature forms to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

**If you would like to check on the status of your return you may call the toll-free automated phone service at 1-888-PATAXES(1-888-728-2937), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The PA Department of Revenue advises that you should wait at least 30 days from the date of acknowledgment before calling the number....
