I come from the middle of the world, from a country situated at 2850 meters above the sea level. I come from a place between rivers and mountains, with a beautiful sunshine, where there are so many stars you can not count them. I come from a place where the spring is eternal and the moon is so bright. I come from Ecuador, a place of heartfelt splendor, not just for the magnificent Andes, rich flora, and fauna, but also for the passionate people. Growing up in this environment helped me to feel connected with nature; it made me feel life itself and motivated me to go forward admiring all the wonderful creations of God.
Three situations have left footprints in my life. These three situations have helped me with my personal development and strong desire to prepare myself intellectually in different areas.
The first one is being a basketball player. I started practicing seriously when I was 12 years old, it wasn’t easy. The hardest part for me was to be on a team but to have to sit and watch and not play or perhaps play a few minutes. I was a substitute player, and I felt bad because of that; sometimes I just wanted to give up, stop playing, because my pride was hurt and I didn’t believe in myself. However, my parents, without knowing my feelings, had always motivated me to keep on trying and helped me to feel good about myself.
I used to practice six days a week, two or three hours a day. After a while all that practice started to pay off. I started to play in the games for longer periods of time. Finally, I was one of the team members who opened the games and eventually started and finished in the same game. It was wonderful ...
