Abstract

In this paper I will explain the four main functions of management.  It is important to first learn the definitions, but then see how they are utilized in the everyday working life of a team.  It shows the place of the manager and how these functions are important for a successful project planning in teams.

In the world of management there are four main functions.  These functions are: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.  Management creates a problem solving solution to a team environment.  A better understanding of these four main functions can help both the staff and manager realize their place in the team.  
    The first function, planning, is very important in management.  This function sets up the first phase in managing a staff of people.  It is critical that a manager sets up this planning process so everything is outlined and goals are set.  This creates the standard for the staff to follow.   In this phase the team's objectives and purpose is stated.  A manager can take the time to explain to the staff the desired outcome and benefits of reaching their goal.  This not only creates clarity, but beings the boosting of morale for the team to complete its task.  Once the team has ...
