Men and Women Communicate Differently
There is a large communication gap between men and women in the workplace and the higher the woman rises in an organization, the greater the gap becomes.  Since a lot of companies depend on their employees for teamwork it is better for the organization if there were strategies and technicians to close the gap.  
Why is there a communication gap?
    One of the reasons that there is a communication gap is because of stereotyping that man and women have toward one another.  For example one of the stereotypes men commonly has for women are nurturing and kind rather than an assertive figure.  That causes a problem because he is unlikely to consider the women for a promotion for a leadership role or take that woman seriously as a leader in the workplace.  Sometimes women buy into this nurturing stereotype which case a frustrating disconnect in communication but also assure their own career euthanasia (Lieberman, n.d.).
    Since stereotypes exist in the workplace dysfunctional communication is very common in the workplace.  One of the most common communication disconnects is men talking over women, not giving them a chance to speak or completely ignoring them (Krotz, n.d).
