Problem Solution: Global Communications
Global Communications has a number of issues surrounding their purposed strategy for keeping the organization viable in the ever-changing industry of telecommunications. They are feeling enormous pressure from stockholders, the economy, and from the competitors. A decision must be made as to how these issues will be handled. In addition, they must make a sound decision in managing their workforce that is beneficial for the company but sensitive to the workforce needs. Finding a solution that will fit their needs and the needs of all the stakeholders involved will be an immense challenge.

Issue and Opportunity Identification
For the last three years, Global Communications has been developing a number of issues that need attention in order for the company to survive. Stockholders are lamenting about the drop in stock value while the industry as a whole is under economic pressure. In addition, the competition among local, long-distance and international service providers are all competing for the same consumers. There is also conflict and lack of communication between Global Communications leadership and the Union whom are protecting the interests of the members who are facing possible relocation or layoff. Everyone from the stockholders to the Union members hold a significant interest in how these problems will be resolved and have conflicting ideas as to how they should be solved.
    Although these problems exist, there is an opportunity for Global Communications to solve these problems in a manner that will benefit some or all of the stakeholders involved.
