Globalization and its Impact on the Middle East
Introduction
In my paper I will be discussing about the process of globalization and its impact on the Middle East. It is important at this juncture to understand the concepts that are related with this paper is globalization and culture. It is very difficult to give an exact and exclusive definition of globalization because many concepts are very closely knitted with it. To different people globalization may mean different things. An economist for example sees it as free market and the emergence of global corporations while for a sociologist it would mean the effects that a society is having due to globalization.
However, we must point out that it is a concept that has various facets and it is important for us to understand all of the facts of the globalization, if we have to understand it, and its impact on the Middle East.
Let us first of all try to explain the concept of globalization. According to Kluver (2000)
“Globalization has been defined in various ways, but is most typically
defined in reference to the interconnections of political entities, economic
relationships, or even computer networks. Globalization refers primarily to
the ways in which economic and industrial institutions (such as industries
and corporations) interact in various locations.”
The above definition points out to certain important things.
1) the interconnections of political entities
2) economic relationships, and
3) Computer networks that lead to shrinking the world through internet.
