Competition-

Competition for Gloflogix has been broken down into three different types: Low-tech solutions, High-tech solutions, and finally performance trackers.
In low-tech solutions, yardage markers were the most widely used tool to asses distances in the game of golf. Every course utilizes this type of distance finder. The problem with this though is that as you get further from the green, the distances become harder to precisely pinpoint. Sprinkler heads were also utilized as a yardage marker. Since there are as many as 10 to 12 sprinkler heads on a given hole it would be easy to place yardage markers on the sprinkler heads themselves. About half of all courses use this type of yardage solution. Yardage booklets are also used by many courses. The booklet has a vivid diagram of each hole and different views and yardage viewpoints. This is offered mostly at higher end and resort courses for a nominal fee. Lastly laser rangefinders are used to precisely pinpoint what the exact yardage is for the golfer. Some golfers use  this type of yardage solution but the product can be very pricey, anywhere from $25-$300 and many golfers view the laser rangefinder as disrupting the integrity of the game.

This also allows the pro shop to track the golf carts and pace of play of the different groups of golfers. It also claimed to speed up play by as much as 30 minutes per foursome. The primary drawback is the cost of the GPS system. It could be as much as $250,000 to outfit 80 carts with the system. A different approach to yardages solutions is the PDA based solution. ...
