During the time period between 1450 and 1750, the world exploration was flourishing, and this interaction between countries and continents led to a major part of history known as slave systems. The amount labor in developing areas and nations had increased, and therefore the amount of laborers needed had increased as well. Two major areas were main contributors to the history of slavery, Africa and Latin America. They are even related in their slave systems and very much like with a few significant differences.
    Of course one cannot write about slave systems with out mentioning the triangular trade, the largest distributor of slaves in history. Latin America and Africa were essential to the slave trade. The slaves were transported on slave ships from Africa to not only Latin America, but also Europe and North America. However, only about five percent of slaves went to North America, and most of the slaves were brought to the Caribbean and Central and South America. In fact, many of the slaves who were brought to North America had already worked in the West Indies area.
    Many slaves from Africa were kidnapped or stolen and taken to slave factories where from there they would be sold as well. Most of the slaves brought to the Caribbean and Latin America were males. The journey to the locations of their labor was a terrible one in which up to twenty percent of the slaves aboard the ship died from the journey. Their lives were not much better when they were to reach land, having to work for the rest of their lives and through cruel treatment.
