ORAGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOR

ASSIGNMENT On

ORGANISATIONAL PRACTICES

Brief Background

I am working in State bank of India since 2002.I served in varied capacities in the organisation. I came across many incidents which has given me immense input to carry out this assignment about any three practices followed by my organisation. Being a very large organisation, there are number of organizational practices to be commented. Here, I would like to comment upon these following three practices.

1. Performance appraisal system.
2. Promotion, transfer and compensation policy.
3. Mandatory assignments/posting

I would like to explain these practices with real problems or case studies faced by me or by me colleague followed by theoretical explanation thereon.

1. Performance appraisal System

The practice of performance appraisal system that SBI follows is based on a prescribed format called AARF (copy enclosed). The motivators help fulfill five sets of basic needs in human beings: physiological, safety/security, social, esteem, self actualization. Motivation is a critical component of life. Here, I would like to bring a case study to elaborate more about this critical aspect of the employee/organisation.
