In the past elections I have not been very interested in the campaigns. Actually, I never took the time out to vote; there has only been two where I could actually vote. Therefore, I’ll excuse myself for my irresponsibility I have many more to go. However, this year’s election has really intrigued me, I even voted in the primary. I’ll leave out for Whom, In case there is any indifference that may result in a failing grade. In my process of learning about the candidates, I have yet to come across any debates or speeches on trade. I missed the one where Obama called Hillary out on her new found stance on the NAFTA. However, In researching the 2008 Presidential Candidates proposals on trade, I found numerous opinions. Each candidate had strong opinions on how they felt about the current policies, though some of them were very similar to others. I choose to address the issues by John McCain and.
    John McCain proposes that we open up Free Trade to all countries that are not a threat to our national security. He is a strong believer that American’s should become a Competitive worker and free trade is an effect of that.  In a recent speech he stated “I don’t believe in walls. I believe in freedom. If I were President, I would negotiate a free trade agreement with almost any country willing to negotiate fairly with us. Only risks to the security of our vital interests or egregious offenses to our most cherished political values should disqualify a nation from entering into a free trade agreement with us” (Spidel, 2008). Yes, Free Trade would be great in an ideal world where all countries are equal. However, they are not. Though protectionism is not the route to go either, we need to find a medium.
