Hinduism is a fairly popular religion. In fact, it is the third most popular religion in the world today following Christianity and Islam respectively. The majority of the people who follow this religion do so in the region where the religion holds its roots. India may hold the most people that practice, but there are others spread out over the world.
Hinduism is a religion, but it differs from other religions. It does not have a unified set of beliefs like most religions due. Instead, it is very diverse in nature. Nonetheless, there are a few things that make up the religion. The most basic principle of Hinduism is that there is an immense force that controls all existence. The force is so immense that it can never be completely known by humanity.
While the religion itself has many different denominations and beliefs, a common god among the different divisions is Brahman. Brahman can be broken down into three different categories: Brahma, the creator; Shiva, the Destroyer, and Vishnu, the preserver. While this is the main deity, Hinduism is often referred to as being polytheistic. There are many other deities that are worshipped by the different divisions, but this is the main god of Hindu religion. The way in which this god is worshipped depends on which division you are apart of as well as the belief of your true self’s power in comparison to that of Brahman.
