The position of sports marketing professional will be obtained by someone with a degree in marketing; therefore the specific training needed to complete the duties of the job will be positioned around those objectives already learned throughout one’s past education. The following is an overview of what training actually is and it’s purpose. It also covers what training techniques will be used for a person obtaining the position of sports marketing professional for the Chicago White Sox.
Training and development are processes that attempt to provide an employee with information, skills, and an understanding of the organization and it’s goals. Before this training and development occurs one must go through an orientation to learn what the organization stands for and the type of work he or she is expected to perform. Orientation is defined as introducing new employees to the organization and to his or her new task, managers and work groups. An orientation is designed to make the person feel comfortable, knowledgeable, and ready to work within the firms culture, structure, and employee mix. The goals of orientation are to reduce anxiety, reduce turnover, save time, and develop realistic expectations. Usually the operating manager conducts the orientation.
Once an individual goes through the orientation process he/she is ready for job training.
