INTRODUCTION-

In this assignment, we are going to study about the history of International business of Netherlands and how the economic, political and cultural factors have affected it. It has an open economy that is heavily depended on foreign trade. It also plays an important role as a European transportation hub. Its major industries are Agro-industries, electrical machinery and equipment, metal and engineering products, chemicals, petroleum, construction, microelectronics, and fishing .The service sector represents 70% of their economy whereas the agriculture sector represents only 4%. POLITICAL STRUCTURE-

The Netherlands has a constitutional monarchy with a parliament (States-General) which consists of 2 chambers. The First chamber consists of 75 members which are elected by the members of the Provincial states (There are 12 provincial states). Whereas the Second chamber which consists of 150 members are directly elected for a term of 4 years. The first chamber has the rights to approve or reject the bills but not to make any changes in them.

The major political parties of the Netherlands are Christian Democratic Party (CDA), Labour Party (PvdA), and Socialist Party (SP).  The last elections were held in Nov 2006 and Jan peter Balkenende of CDA became its Prime Minister.
