COMPANY BRIEF

Jamba Juice is a leading vendor of healthy blended fruit drinks (smoothies), fresh juices, and snacks. They strive to inspire and simplify healthy living for its customers and employees. The company is extremely passionate and innovative and is evident in its approach when creating food products of ultimate texture, palatability and taste.

Jamba, Inc. is the holding company and through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jamba Juice Company, owns and franchises Jamba Juice stores. As of July 15, 2008, Jamba, Inc. had 736 stores, of which 518 were company-owned and operated. Today there are approximately 9,000 employees spread throughout the USA, and are currently listed on the NASDAQ as JMBA, JMBAU and JMBAW.


BACKGROUND

Jamba Juice was the brainchild of college student Kirk Perron. The Cal Poly University student founded the company in April 1990 (San Luis Obispo, California) as part of his Senior Project. He soon brought in classmates Joe Vergara, Kevin Peters, and Linda Ozawa Olds to help run the business. “Juice Club”, as it was first called, had a clear vision: to make healthy living delicious, easy and fun. In 1990, after five years of steady success, they decided to change the name to Jamba Juice. Then, in 2006, Jamba Juice agreed to be acquired by Services Acquisition Corp. International for $265 million. Upon closing of the transaction, the publicly traded Services Acquisition changed its name to Jamba, Inc.
