Several managers at at&t are successful at leading their teams and keeping themselves and others motivated. One manager in general was the mentor of the writer, this manager, Chris is his name: was able to keep himself and his team on top of all the goals and corporate objectives time after time, the entire time he was enjoyable to work with and portrayed a positive attitude that was contagious to his staff and others around him. Chris used to hold daily conference call with his staff and almost daily his fist comments would be” what you first hear in the morning will set the tone for the rest of the day” and he would follow up by telling his staff that he had total faith that they would accomplish all of the goals set forth without any doubt.
This writer learned very much from Chris and tries to mold several aspects of leadership skills form him. It is this writer’s belief that a leader should, be your staff's coach. A coach is an advocate of success, and if a staff is used in the correct lineup and motivated as a unit, that success will follow. Keep an eye on your employees but be sure that they are given enough space to work comfortably. Think of the staff as a team and oneself as the captain of this team. The leader’s job is to make sure everyone plays in their right positions and keep them guided and motivated. Perhaps a few incentives to make them work harder will help in keeping;
