Killing Giants

KILLING GIANTS, PULLING THORNS

Giants are tough!!!!

It's easy to talk about how you'd handle them as long as they are miles away, lumbering across someone else's landscape. But it's something else when you find yourself nose to knee with one on your own doorstep.

I know.  I've faced several in my front yard?on my campus?in my church?on the silent battleground of My own soul.

People like us need the kind of faith young David showed when he plunged his hand into the cold stream, grabbed a fistful of stones and strode off to keep an appointment with the original Bigfoot?a fella named Goliath.

So let's kill'em.  One by one.  With the sling of faith, the stone of truth and the name of the Lord of hosts as our battle cry.

Scripture references: Job 23:10-13 and Psalm 73:25-26

His armor included a bronze coat of mail weighing 200 pounds, a solid-iron spear (the head alone weighed 25 pounds), and a big bronze helmet.  Add another club, bronze leggings and boots, plus that face of his?and you've got the makings of a shoo-in linebacker for the Chicago Bears, or next season's center for UCLA's starting five.

Pity the poor private ...
