Issue and Opportunity Identification
Kuiper Leda specializes in the production of Electronic Control Units (ECU) and sensors for the automotive industry. This includes Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS) for the automotive industry. Revenue has currently reached $400 million and the company has been in operation for over 10 years. The new product line for the customer is Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID) with has been in operation for nearly 6 months now.
Midland Motors, a large auto major, has placed an annual order of 250,000 ECUs and 35,000 RFIDs to facilitate inventory control in their factory. As the order is large, the existing capacity is insufficient to handle the increased load on the plant. This order would benefit from Midland Motors but at the same time, Kuiper Leda will need to supply a higher volume over their regular orders.
