The work reviewed in this book uses methods of psychological measurement to identify and understand the nature of leadership talent and leadership behavior. Part 1 contains nine chapters coauthored by the editors, Kenneth E. Clark and Miriam B. Clark. The chapters present information on leadership development and identification in the context of a free and open society, the growth of psychological research activities in applied settings, and measures of leadership. Part 2 consists of 29 papers that provided the basis for discussion at the 1988 San Antonio Conference on Psychological Measures and Leadership. Topics include a review of research on leadership, psychological measurements in longterm prediction and assessment studies, measures of leadership as inspiration and influence, measures of leader and manager behavior, leadership at the top of an organization, personality and leadership, intellectual qualities of leaders, and leadership development. Part 3 provides a running account of the conference proceedings and a list of participants.
