Walt Disney had bought the rights for Jim Henson’s creation of the Muppets in 2004 and has struggled to find and develop ideas to bring them back into the limelight. Many idea of spoofs of reality shows that would have certain Muppets such as Miss Piggy and Kermit the frog playing the rolls of normal characters have been shot down in early stages. But now Lylle Breier, the new general manager of Muppets Studio plans to begin the approach of advertising in any way possible. The Muppets will be featured on the Disney channel with a new TV show and will be seen in clips with such popular music groups such as The Jonas Brothers, and short videos with the cast of High School Musical. Kermit and friends will also be showed interviewing political candidates, hoping to help children get a grasp and learn about what is going on with the presidential race. The Muppets will also be in a Christmas Special that will air this coming Christmas and be released onto DVD. There is also a new float being made that will debut in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. At such main stage as the Thanksgiving parade is I’m sure many commentators that broadcast the parade will have all good things to say about the Muppets.
Along with the television publicity, comes the merchandise.
