    Marketing orientation is that of helping to facilitate a mutual beneficial exchange of something of value; that eventually meets the needs of the customer, simultaneously bringing profitability to the organisation. In regards to the situation of the customer and the assistant at a Pharmacy store, there was a display of marketing orientation.  The customer needed to treat his wound, thereby wanting a bandage. The assistant met the demand of customer by getting exactly what he desired, nonetheless satisfying his wants. As the need of the customer was in the form of stated needs, it is obvious that the customer needed a bandage for his bleeding knees. However, the organisation would have obtained more profit if the assistant could have promoted complimentary products like creams for the wounds and vitamins. But ultimately, both parties have benefited as both the customer and the organisation goals have been matched.

    In reference to my organisation that belongs to a veterinary pharmaceutical industry, the Sales and Marketing Department consists of a Sales & Marketing Manager and three Sales & Marketing Executives (Large Animal Division, Small Animal Division and Government Sector). The responsibilities of both Manager and executives are similar; such as developing new sales leads as well as selling and marketing products to targeted customers. However, the manager has a supervisory role like managing overall sales activities of the department, developing strategic plans and conducting market analysis.
