This is not the first time that I work for Helen of Troy. I worked here about two years ago at the warehouse for a hole year, and for the purpose of this week’s chapter, I think there is no better example, let me explain why: When you are working on a office environment, you have a formal dress code, and you are supposed to be in touch with management, is weird to see people horse playing around; this could not be more different on a warehouse environment. People get to know each other very well in less time because they physically work together and they have to form teams to complete their tasks. They tend to be ruder to each other because of that over confidence they create on each others, and the dress code gives a more casual way of behavior, even though they have one, they tend to feel more comfortable doing thinks that you would not do on a formal attire; this is the main reason why we need a very well structured progressive discipline program aligned with the company’s goals and values.
Now, in order to do that, we need to first take a look at the goals and values of Helen of Troy. Helen of Troy is a home town company that grew immensely throughout the years with the strategy of buying high level brand names in personal care, and then they expanded to kitchenware, automotive, house tools etc. Their profile has been one of a high end technology company, with unbeatable customer service and well trained employees.&nb ...
