Women, Men and Leadership 1
WOMEN, MEN AND LEADERSHIP
People have discussed the role of women and men in the society since starting time of the humanity. General view of the society is, women should stay at home and take care of the home and children on the other hand, men should go out, provide food, heat and a roof. But with the years, this view has lost acceptability and women have started to take important roles in the society.
Also, women have started to control high management level in companies like other parts of the society. According to the Center for Women's Business Research (2005); the number of women-owned firms with employees has expanded by an estimated 28% between 1997 and 2004, three times the growth rate of all firms with employees and almost two-thirds (63%) of all women-owned businesses are privately-held majority (51%) or more women-owned for a total of 6.7 million firms, employing 9.8 million people and generating $1.2 trillion in sales.
Some people bet that women are better leaders than the men. Because their sense and feelings are stronger then men. Editors (2001) argued that women have a natural advantage in ``web thinking``. Also women are more likely to be transformational leaders, defined as those who serve as role models, mentor and empower workers and encourage innovation even when the organization the lead is generally successful.
