MOST NEW IDEAS ARE BAD IDEAS
It was second year of my Engineering. We were supposed to prepare for Freshers party for our juniors. In the past all the Freshers party of our college were held in our college campus where senior students were supposed to arrange for food, music, stage performances, disco etc. and college staff would support with other things such as furniture, arrangement etc. A group of students were selected from a class and were given the responsibility of organizing the party. There were different disciplines of Engineering in our college and Freshers party was one medium of competition for students from these various fields. Students from every discipline wanted to do something different and better to stand apart from other disciplines and to have a strong impression on the juniors.
Five students were selected from my class to organize the party. I was one of them. We were in the Electronics engineering discipline. For the last couple of years students from electronics engineering had thrown the best freshers party in the college. So, we had that extra pressure of being the best of the lot and ensuring that we threw the best freshers party. Since all parties were held in college campus, I suggested that we gave our freshers party outside our campus. The idea was welcomed by everyone in the class and we decided to have our fresher’s party in a hotel even though it meant that we as a class had to shell out 25% extra cash than usual.
We did have a party in one of the best hotels of the city and it was definitely different from any other discipline of our college, however it ended up being one of the worst parties of that year.
