Organizational Structure
Organizational structures are important to corporations. Structures allow information to be disseminated effectively to different departments. Kudler Fine Foods uses the vertical dimension of organization to demonstrate their company hierarchy. This formal line of authority shows how Kathy is able to set goals for the company and make these goals successful “Managers, teams, and employees have varying amounts of authority, responsibility, and accountability according to the specifications of the vertical structure of the organization” (Gomez-Mejia & Balkin, 2002, p.232). The structure allows each department to have a clear idea of their tasks and the part they play within the company.
Kudler Fine Foods uses a functional structure to specifically place each department. “Functional structure clusters people with similar skills in a department” (Gomez-Mejia & Balkin, 2002, p. 237). Kathy Kudler, is the president of Kudler Fine Foods. Kathy is responsible for managing the direction of the company. Kathy has an administrative assistant and is also responsible for directly managing the directors and the stores. Kathy has designated three main directors to assist with the functioning of the different company departments. Harvey Stephens is the Director of Finance. He is responsible for implementing policies as they relate to budgets and accounting. As director, he manages four employees, two accounting clerks and two computer support specialists.
