During my work years, I have worked in a lot of different areas that were very challenging for me. I have worked in the school system and the medical field for many years as a nursing assistant. I thought I knew everything there was to know about organizational behavior until I started taking this class. I learned that with time things changes and they don’t stay the same.
The way a person feels about their job is know as job satisfaction and the way they feel about their employer in the work place is known as organizational commitment (George & Jones, 2008). The employees at he the Aberdeen and Green River plant seems to be from different worlds (even though the are employed by FMC). They offer the same thing but they handle their business differently from one another.
Aberdeen was a nontraditional organization while Green River was a traditional one (FMC corporation, 2008). Both of these facilities has face some changes that either helped them or made them lose money or customers. With new technologies comes changes and better opportunity for employees, customers and employers. With technology they have a better way of communicating and keeping in-touch with what is going on with in both of the two plants. Green River can face major challenges by introducing robots to take the place of their employees. It’s true that robots can do the work themselves but they don’t take the place of good workers. With new opportunities such as training and better incentives for the employees they can also face difficult challenges if they don’t do what it takes to get the proper training that they need. They can offer these different things if they really want too.
