One of the most well known concepts in management is "Hierarchy of Needs" by Maslow.  In the theory, it is suggested that one of the main factors of motivation for any individual is a function of the status of needs. Depended on the level of need defined in the theory, the objectives and goals of a person should be categorized. In practice, this could help managers from different industries to realize and appreciate the need of their subordinate and act upon it consequently. For instance, a general manager of a large size organization whose subordinates are executive levels (for instance head of divisions and departments) should know the factors that motivate his senior employees. In this example, the top manager should focus on giving the opportunity to the employees to reach towards their self esteem which could be implemented by providing a chance for creativity, innovation and power. This is while at the bottom low of the hierarchy pyramid, people are trying to satisfy their basic needs and therefore, lower levels of creativity should be expected from them. At this level, monetary incentives are the most effective while by moving to top of the pyramid, the financial incentives are less effectual in comparison.  In construction industry, when managers, particularly project managers are involved with dealing with so many different parties such as client, consultant, sub contractor, designing team and the like, managing the processes to be able to exert the maximum efficiency and effectiveness is a critical issue, taking to account the stage in which each party is at could be a very helpful tool for a better communication and bring people one step closer. As a result, potentially this could lead to an improved mutual understanding and less dispute....
