Problem Solution: InterClean, Inc.
Introduction
David Spencer, CEO of InterClean, has a vision of making InterClean an industry leader and is not afraid to take risks to achieve that vision.  The problem solution of InterClean, Inc. is interesting as it examines the strategic HR plan that will help align the company strategy and employees.  It will explore the opportunities that are available for the company and the senior management team as it attempts to restructure a company that is trying to stay competitive an become an industry leader.
Situation Analysis
Issue and Opportunity Identification
By anticipating the needs of customers InterClean has the opportunity to capitalize on offering new products and services.  According to Frigo (2004), “Successful companies target the right market segments with the right offerings at the right time, and they also know which ones to avoid…by focusing on customers’ unmet needs.” (p.9)  Offering new products and services require InterClean to change the corporate strategy.   To make the restructuring successful it is essential to develop a strategic HR plan that aligns the employees with the new strategy.  
By the HR strategy addressing the issues of staffing, employee and career development, and performance measurement system this will give InterClean a competitive advantage over competitors.  According to Dougherty and Dreher (2001), “Firms that are better at selecting, developing, and motivating employees should have an advantage over their counterparts”. (p.11)
