In an age where obesity is rampant and being healthy is the new craze. Many individuals are choosing a healthier lifestyle. Consider the risk factors associated with obesity: diabetes, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure/cholesterol sleep apnea and other health related issues1.  
There is no wonder why many fast food chains have acknowledged the need to address the growing interest in public health. With that many fast food companies have become more health conscious to profit from this new positive trend. Fast food restaurants that cover every inch of city landscape have begun to eliminate trans fat; adding grilled and reduced calorie options to their menus as well. Some companies have even gone as far as to reduce portions size, which translates into a reduction in caloric intake in a single meal. Although these companies seem to have the consumers best interest at heart it is a sure fire way to make a profit.
Examples of chains that have taken the initiative are McDonald’s, Dunkin Doughnuts, Fridays as well as Starbucks these eateries have introduced reduced calorie items to their menu. These choices give consumers the opportunity to enjoy a reduce calorie options. While eating what has traditionally been deemed unhealthy. Although there are fewer calories in these options these food choices still lack real nutritional value. With in increased emphasis on life style modifications i.e. eliminating foods high in fat and increasing exercise. Fast food companies have no choice but to catch the healthy lifestyle wave or get left behind.
