What is a team? To answer that question I will discuss what a team is, the stages of, define the roles, and identify the advantages and challenges of being a member of a virtual team.  A team is a group that works together towards a common goal. A team doesn’t have to be human; it can be human, animal, or a combination of both. A team is two or more. Teams can be in a business setting, a restaurant (the front of the house and back of the house, which are two separate teams, that work together to form one team), sports, games, classes, or clubs.  Teams are important for variousreasons. The first is that a team, as a whole, can do more that a single one can produce. For example, if there is only one person in a boat rowing, it will go slower than a team of two rowing together as a team. Teams will produce more than just the individual. For example, if just one person is sandbagging for a river that is on the rise, they will be less effective than ten people working together breaking down the job into smaller parts. One person bags the sand, another holds the bag to be filled, while another ties it, and so on.  A productive team is one that works in unison towards the common goal. Each member has the feel for what the other members are doing. Such in a soccer match, where each member has their own task. The goalie you know will be near the goal and will protect it from the other team. That is his or her role in the team. While the other players have their own tasks and they know what their tasks are, and where they are to be.  There are four stages to team development. These are forming, storming, norming, and performing. Each of these are phases are necessary for a team to grow, face challenges, tackle problems, find solutions, and to get results.  ...
