    Saint Nicholas was born during the third century in the village of Patara. His wealthy parents, raised him to be a devout Christian but, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Still obeying Jesus and following his words Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He became Bishop of Myra has a young man. Nicholas died December 6, AD 343 in Myra and was buried in his cathedral church.
    St. Nicholas was famous for giving to the poor. A story tells of him giving gold to a poor man for the dowry money for his three daughters. He was also famous for protecting children. Another story tells of him saving a young boy from working for a emir, and bringing him back to his parents. Finally he was famous for being the protector of sailors. A story tells of him and a few sailors on a boat in the middle of a storm. It is said that Nicholas started to pray, and the storm and rough current went away sparing the sailors lives.
    December 6th is a significant day because it is the anniversary of the death of St. Nicholas. On the eve of December 6th little children leave out their shoes for St. Nicholas so he may leave small presents in there. The day of Dec. 6th is also known as the Feast of St. Nicholas. This event can be celebrated as a community thing or in your own home. Its all about giving presents to those who deserve it.
    The real question is how St. Nicholas also Santa Clause? Well when the pilgrims went over to America to be free their main idea was to stop doing English old stuff, and start some new traditions.
