GE Water & Process Technologies (GE W&PT) is a leading global supplier of water, wastewater and process systems solutions. The company is the name for General Electric’s water treatment business. At the heart of GE is a core ideology that has been present for close to 125 years. Core ideology consists of core values and a core purpose according to Collins and Porras. The core values of W&PT mesh clearly with GE corporate values of curious, resourceful, teamwork, and open. These, “…small set of timeless guiding principles…” are clearly a hallmark of GE since the turn of the 19th century (Collins, 1996).
The second part of core ideology is core purpose. Water & Process Technologies’ strategy is holistic in nature. Through prediction and detection, operational performance issues are pro-actively managed before they become problems. To succeed, Water & Process Technologies’ responsibility to its customers involves:
•    Optimizing operational performance
•    Safeguarding operational assets
•    Protecting the environment
As long as water is being consumed in the world today, there will always be a purpose for W&PT to exist. The operational problems that exist today will be there in the future.
The GE W&PT mission is to be recognized as the world's best supplier of engineered chemical and mechanical treatment programs for water and process systems.
